Started in 2001, the Dot NAME extension is the single TLD planned for personal sites only. These domain names can include personal or fictitious names, aliases and/or other labels people are popular by. Initially, solely 3rd-level registrations were permitted, so if you wished to obtain john.doe.name, you were required to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration procedures were liberalized and 2nd-level registrations were also permitted. Already bought third-level domain names remained active.

You will have the opportunity to update the WHOIS information, to park your domain, to modify Custom DNS records, etc. You can also move over an already purchased domain to our firm if you take its EPP transfer authorization code from the present registrar firm and we will renew it once the transfer has been finalized. There are no special terms on who can acquire a .NAME domain, but in order to preserve the idea behind its establishment alive, the .NAME Registry organization may check who the Registrant is and if there is no relation between the owner and the actual domain, the registration could be challenged.
